A trip 'up North'
Yesterday morning I got back (at 4.15 a.m, yum!) from a week's trip to the top of Africa, to help with some spelling issues (what rules to give to a normally unwritten language). You know, the place we used to live! The team were great to work with, we did what need to be done, and it was also a nice time of fellowship, seeing quite a few old friends. Also hot and sticky, unlike Nairobi, where I now sit with 3 layers on.
One evening I had the privilege of going out with 5 local believers for some cheap, traditional food. Thought the pictures might make you drool.... or not.
The first picture is of lablabi, which is made of large bread crumbs, on which a thin stew, flavoured with cumin and chickpeas is poured. I also went for the optional extras of a half-cooked egg mixed in, along with olive oil, harissa, and some olives. All for around 60p. An acquired taste, but once acquired, delicious!
My host went for half a sheep's head, remains of which are shown below.
Bon appetit!

Liz- thanks Maik got your message, we are around mid August. Were you thinking of anything in particular? Be good to see you.
Rachel. Hi. Obviously there's space at our place if you need somewhere to stay while you're in the UK. Looking forward to coming just waiting to get my yellow fever jab now. Rhi said i could get anti malarials out there if needed. Have been asked to bring so much stuff from other people i think i may be living in 1 dress and a 1 pair of shorts and top the whole time i'm out there! :-) Seriously, do i need any specific things out there with me? Ru x
